SEO for manufacturers: the buyer is not searching for you, they are searching for a part

Nobody types the name of a machine shop they have never heard of. They type a material, a tolerance and a process, and whoever has a page about exactly that gets the enquiry.

Who holds the results

The top of this query is held by an industrial sourcing directory and by marketing agencies. The directory matters: for a lot of American manufacturers it is where buyers still start, and being absent from it is a decision, not an oversight.

The agencies ranking here are selling services to manufacturers. As with every trade, the national phrase belongs to the people selling to you.

What an industrial buyer needs on the page

Capabilities in the buyer's own words: processes, materials, tolerances, maximum part size, certifications. A buyer filtering ten suppliers is looking for a disqualifier, and vagueness is one.

Run sizes and lead times. Prototype shops and production shops are different businesses, and saying which you are saves both sides a week.

A page per capability rather than one capabilities page. This is the single change that turns a five page brochure into a site that gets found, because every specification is its own search.

Certifications and audits stated plainly, with dates. In this market they are the entry ticket, not a bragging point.

Why most manufacturer sites fail at this

They were written to be read by someone who already knows the company: a history page, a photo of the building, a contact form. That serves the existing customer and is invisible to the new one.

The fix is not a redesign. It is turning what you can actually make into pages a buyer can search for.

Our published prices: $800 to $2,500 for a one page site, from $3,000 for a business site, $250 / month for ongoing search work, one month at a time.
