SEO audit
An SEO audit is a written list of what is wrong with a site and in what order to fix it. Ours covers four things: what a crawler can and cannot read, what the pages actually say, how fast they load on a phone, and which of your own pages are competing with each other. The result is a list with a first, second and third item, not a hundred page report.
What you get
- A crawl of the whole site: broken links, redirect chains, pages with no way in, pages missing from the sitemap
- Page level check: titles, descriptions, one H1, canonical tags, structured data that matches the content
- Speed on a phone, six runs, the median reported, with the heaviest thing on the page named
- Your own pages checked against each other, because two pages chasing one query is the most common self inflicted problem
- Search Console read where you have it: which pages get shown, which get clicked and where the two disagree
- The fix list in order of effect, with what we would do first and what we would leave alone
How it works
- 01
Access
day 1
We need the site address and, if you have it, read access to Search Console. Nothing else, and no changes are made during an audit.
- 02
Crawl and measure
day 1 to 3
The whole site is crawled and the main templates are measured for speed. Findings are collected with the address of every page they apply to.
- 03
The list
day 3 to 5
You get the findings in order of effect, each one with what it costs you now and what fixing it involves. Written so your current developer can act on it without us.
What it costs
Ranges, not a single number: the final figure is fixed in writing before we start. Responsive design and on page SEO are included, not add ons.
- Audit, one time
- $400 once
The full pass and the written fix list. If you then take the monthly plan, this becomes the setup and is not charged twice.
Work we have done
When not to hire us
- You want the audit to be the reason to switch developer. We write it so it can be handed to whoever you have.
- The site launched last week. There is nothing to audit yet, and the first month of data is worthless.
- You want a score out of a hundred to show someone. Scores are easy to move without improving anything, so we do not lead with them.
Questions
- Can I do my own SEO audit?
- Yes, and for a small site you should try first. Free crawlers and the browser speed test cover most of it. What is hard on your own is the ordering: knowing which of forty findings actually costs you traffic and which is noise.
- Can ChatGPT do an SEO audit?
- It can explain findings and draft fixes, and it is genuinely good at that. It cannot crawl your site, measure your speed or read your Search Console, so what it produces is a guess about a site it has not seen unless you feed it the data first.
- How much does an SEO audit cost?
- $400 once. If you then take the $250 monthly plan, the audit counts as the setup and is not charged again.
- How long does it take?
- Three to five working days for a normal site. Larger sites take longer to crawl but the writing time is the same.
- What are the top SEO audit tools?
- We use a crawler, the browser speed test and Search Console, and none of that is secret. The tool matters less than what gets done with the output, which is why the deliverable is an ordered list rather than an export.
