Technical SEO

Technical SEO is the part that decides whether the rest of the work counts. A search engine has to reach the page, read it, and see one clear address for it. On top of that sit speed and structured data. None of it wins on its own, and all of it can quietly cancel out good content.

What you get

  • Crawl paths: no orphan pages, no chains of redirects, one address per page with the canonical tag pointing at it
  • Sitemap with dates that come from the content changing, not from the build running
  • Structured data that describes what is really on the page, and none of the types Google has stopped showing
  • Speed work with a number attached: what it was, what we changed, what it is now, all six run medians
  • Rendering checked the way a crawler sees it, not the way the page looks in your browser
  • Server side details: compression, cache headers, security headers, one hostname rather than four that all answer

How it works

  1. 01

    Measure

    week 1

Crawl, render, speed. Every finding gets its current number so the change afterwards is arguable rather than a matter of opinion.

  2. 02

    Fix

    week 1 to 3

Structure and addressing first, because they affect every page. Speed second, since it is usually two or three heavy things rather than fifty small ones.

  3. 03

    Re-measure

    after each change

The same test as before, same conditions, median of six runs. Anything that cannot be measured does not ship.

What it costs

Ranges, not a single number: the final figure is fixed in writing before we start. Responsive design and on page SEO are included, not add ons.

Ongoing technical care

Monthly crawl, speed re-measured, regressions caught before they cost traffic.

$250 / month
One time pass

The full technical fix on an existing site, with numbers before and after.

$400 once

When not to hire us

  • The site is fine technically and the real problem is that no page answers what people search for. We will tell you that instead of billing for a pass you do not need.
  • You need the fixes but nobody may touch the theme or the plugins. Most of this work is edits to the site itself.
  • You want a perfect score in a testing tool. Scores move for reasons that have nothing to do with your buyer.

Questions

What is technical SEO?
Everything that decides whether a search engine can reach, read and correctly identify your pages: crawling, addressing, sitemaps, structured data and speed. Content decides whether the page deserves to rank, and technical work decides whether it gets the chance.
Does page speed affect rankings?
It is one signal among many, and it matters more for the person than for the ranking. We publish our numbers before and after rather than claiming a position change we cannot attribute.
Do I need structured data?
Where it describes what is really on the page, yes. Two popular types, HowTo and ClaimReview, no longer produce anything in Google search, so we do not add them and we do not charge for them.
Will you break my site?
Changes go in one at a time with the page compared before and after, and the threshold for a visual difference is half a percent. Anything over that gets rolled back rather than explained away.
Can this be done on WordPress?
Yes. Most of it is theme, template and server work rather than plugins. We also work on static sites, and for other platforms we look at the site first and then say what is possible.
