E-commerce website development

An online store is a catalog, a product page and a checkout working as one path to a paid order. We build that store as a static site rather than on a hosted platform like Shopify: no monthly platform fee, no theme system to fight, and pages that are files instead of pages assembled on every request. Pricing starts at $4,500 and most stores are live in six to ten weeks.

What you get

  • Catalog structure that still works at five hundred products, not just at fifty
  • Product pages built around the questions buyers ask: sizes, materials, delivery, returns
  • Cart and checkout with as few steps as your payment provider allows
  • Payments and delivery wired to your providers and tested with real test orders
  • Stock, prices and orders editable by you, without calling us for every change
  • Speed on a phone, because a slow product page is an abandoned cart
  • Technical SEO on category and product pages from the first commit

How it works

  1. 01

    Catalog

    week 1

We map what you sell: how products differ, what varies by size or colour, where you ship and what the customer must know before paying. Everything else follows this map.

  2. 02

    Scope

    week 1 to 2

A written scope: catalog structure, page by page, payment and delivery providers, fixed price and dates. Nothing is built until you approve it.

  3. 03

    Design

    week 2 to 4

Category page, product page and checkout in the browser, on real products of yours. These three decide the money, so they are drawn first and changed here.

  4. 04

    Build

    week 4 to 8

Storefront, cart and checkout are built and filled with your catalog. You place test orders yourself while it is being built, not after launch.

  5. 05

    Launch

    final week

We move it to your domain, run paid test orders end to end, check refunds and delivery rules, then hand over the accounts and a short guide on adding products.

What it costs

Ranges, not a single number: the final figure is fixed in writing before we start. Responsive design and on page SEO are included, not add ons.

A hosted platform or a store of your own?

The honest trade off, so the choice is made before the money is spent.

 Hosted platformBuilt for you, static
What it costs to keepBasic $29 a month billed yearly, or $39 billed monthly. Grow $79, Advanced $299, Plus from $2,300. Every online sale also carries a card rate, 2.9% and 30 cents on Basic. No platform fee and no cut of a sale. You pay to host a set of files and you pay your payment provider. That is the whole list.
If the payments are not theirsUsing a payment provider other than Shopify Payments adds 2% per order on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus.Your provider and your rate, whatever you negotiated. We wire it in and take nothing per order.
What the fee buysA checkout, payments, tax and shipping rules, hosting and support, all maintained for you, with no setup fee on any plan. The same jobs done once and then owned by you. Anything unusual gets built instead of waited for.
The checkout itselfThe checkout is theirs. Their pricing page lists a fully customizable checkout on the Plus plan only. The whole buying path is yours, including configurators and fitment logic that a theme would not allow.

When a store of your own is the right call

  • The design is the product. Drops, limited runs, editorial storefronts: a theme system is in the way rather than in the plan.
  • Speed is part of what you sell. Pages are served as finished files, and we hand you the measured numbers before launch, not after.
  • The buying path is not standard: configurators, fitment by vehicle, pricing rules, 3D or heavy motion. This is where a hosted theme stops and we start.
  • Product data already lives somewhere else, in your inventory or ERP system. The store reads from it and stays a storefront, instead of becoming a second place to keep the same data.
  • You do not want to pay a share of every sale for as long as the store exists.

When not to hire us

  • You want to test an idea with three products. A hosted platform will do that for a monthly fee, and we will tell you so rather than take the money.
  • Your catalog changes every day and several people edit it. A platform hands you that back office on day one; with us it is something we would be building for you.
  • You sell into every state and need automatic tax rates and live carrier rates. A platform calculates those out of the box, and with us each rule is wired by hand.
  • Your business already runs on a platform's apps and checkout. Pulling it out to save the subscription is usually a bad trade, and we will say so.
  • You need it live in two weeks. A store has too many moving parts, and the parts that get rushed are payment and delivery.

Questions

How much does an online store cost?
$4,500 to $10,000 for a store with catalog, cart and checkout, and $6,000 to $18,000 when choosing the product needs its own logic, like a configurator or a fitment finder. The calculator on our home page gives a range in about a minute, and the written scope fixes the figure before work starts.
How long does it take to build a store?
Six to ten weeks, depending on the size of the catalog and how many payment and delivery rules there are. The clock starts when the scope is approved and product data is available in some usable form.
What do you build the store on?
A static storefront in code, not a hosted platform. CONCEPT.CULT runs on Next.js and Overlandico Southeast on WordPress with a hand built theme, and both are ours end to end. Pages are built once and served as files, which is why they load the way they do.
Do you build on Shopify?
No. We build the store instead of renting it: no monthly platform fee, no share of each order, no theme system deciding what the page may do. What you pay us is a one time build, and after that the store costs you hosting.
What if a platform really is the right answer for me?
Then we say so and you go there, which is cheaper for you than hiring us to prove it. That is the honest answer when your catalog changes daily and several people edit it, when you need automatic tax and live carrier rates across every state, or when your business already runs on a platform's apps and checkout.
Which payment and delivery providers can you connect?
Any provider with a documented API, and we wire and test it before launch rather than after. If you have not chosen one yet, we will lay out what each costs you per order and let you pick.
Can I add products myself?
Yes. Products, prices, stock, photos and descriptions are yours to edit from day one. Changes to how the catalog itself is structured come back to us, and those are rare once the store is running.
Can you move my existing store instead of building a new one?
Yes, and it is a redesign rather than a new build: we keep the addresses that already earn traffic, map redirects for the rest and move the catalog across. Orders and customer accounts come over as data, not retyped by hand.
Will the new store sell more?
We will not put a number on it. A store built around your catalog removes the usual reasons people leave: a checkout with too many steps, a product page that does not answer the obvious question, a phone page that loads slowly. Demand itself is a separate job.
